Altinkum means “golden sand” and its two main beaches which gently away in the turquoise blue Aegean invite, we will soon see how the station received its name. Beach Life is excellent in Altinkum. No water sports or foot, for those who prefer the pace of life a bit slower.
Altinkum is a friendly resource and find the locals laid back and relaxed in their attitude towards tourists. This station is located on the western coast of the Aegean. Altinkum served by three airports, is 1hr away from Bodrum, Izmir, Dalaman two hours and three hours.
A few minutes outside Altinkum is Didim, where the ruins of the famous temple of Apollo. This portico of the temple that originally 120 columns and a twin sister of Apollo, Artemis, also had 120 columns in her temple, near Ephesus. Ancient Didyma was not a city, but the house of a god and his priest. In the temple grounds are fragments of its rich decoration including a striking head of Medusa. Just over the road, you can relax in a stone house of the original sample the local cuisine, while the sun sets over the temple!
